Jemur

Jemur!

Can I hang my laundry outside today, and until when? One glance, one answer, for wherever you jemur.

What Jemur does

Questions

Why does Jemur say NO when it looks sunny?

Usually because of haze, or because rain is expected before your laundry would dry. Malaysian afternoons often turn quickly. The reason is shown under the verdict.

What do "covered" and the direction change?

Under a roof, a porch or a covered balcony, rain only reaches your clothes when the wind blows it in from the open side. Jemur checks wind direction and gusts hour by hour. Drying in the open, like a yard or rooftop? Choose "Open to the sky" and any rain counts. If you are not sure which way it faces, Jemur assumes the worst.

Is the haze reading the official API?

No. Jemur uses modelled PM2.5 levels and shows them as Clear, Hazy or Heavy. Malaysia's official Air Pollutant Index uses a different method, so the numbers will not match the news. For official readings, see APIMS by the Department of Environment.

How accurate is it?

Jemur uses good forecasts, but tropical storms are hard to predict and forecasts can be wrong. Use it as a helpful guide, not a guarantee. Telling Jemur whether your laundry dried helps us improve it.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up and no login. Your settings stay on your phone.

What notifications does Jemur send?

A morning verdict at the time you choose, and an "Angkat baju!" alert when rain is coming while your laundry is out. You can turn notifications off at any time.
